Role Summary

Theon Sensors is seeking motivated and skilled graduates in Electronics, Physics or Materials Science to join our team as Shift Leader - Instrument Assemblers. The successful candidates will be responsible for the assembly, testing, and quality control of sophisticated optical instruments. This is an excellent opportunity to apply your academic knowledge in a practical, hands-on environment and contribute to the development of cutting-edge technology.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assemble optical instruments according to engineering specifications and schematics.
  • Conduct precision alignment and calibration of optical components.
  • Perform quality control tests to ensure instruments meet required standards.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other team members to troubleshoot and resolve assembly issues.
  • Document assembly processes and maintain accurate records.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and industry regulations.

 

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Shift Leader or relevant role.
  • Provide directions and feedback to workers during shifts.
  • Schedule employee shifts and assign duties.
  • Handle time-off requests and last-minute absences.
  • Train and coach new employees.
  • Inspect equipment and report repair or replacement needs.
  • Measure, mark dimensions, and prepare stock for machining.
  • Verify dimensional specifications with precision instruments.
  • Test devices using optical instruments like oscilloscopes and collimators.
  • Good communication skills and ability to follow detailed instructions.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Physics, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of optical principles and materials properties.
  • Hands-on experience with optical assembly and alignment (academic or internship experience is acceptable).
  • Familiarity with quality control processes and standards.
  • Fluent in English (both written and spoken). Knowledge of French and/or Flemish/German will be considered a plus.
