Senior Computer Vision Engineer

Your Tasks 

As a Senior Computer Vision Engineer (f/m/d), you will play a leading role in the design and implementation of cutting-edge computer vision systems that power intelligent defense applications. Working in a dynamic cross-functional team of data scientists, ML engineers, and Site Reliability Engineers, you will drive the technical direction of AI-based perception solutions from concept to deployment. 

• You design, develop, and optimize advanced deep learning models for computer vision, leveraging the cloud-native Sthenos platform. 
• You lead experimentation with state-of-the-art vision architectures such as YOLO, Faster R-CNN, DETR, or transformer-based models, and evaluate their applicability to real-world defense scenarios. 
• You mentor and guide junior engineers and data scientists, providing technical direction, code reviews, and best practices for model development and deployment. 
• You take ownership of end-to-end model lifecycles — from data exploration and training to large-scale evaluation, integration, and performance monitoring in production environments. 
• You collaborate with other ML engineers to define data collection, curation, and annotation strategies, ensuring datasets are optimized for training and validation. 
• You explore reinforcement learning and simulation-based training methods to enhance visual perception and decision-making systems. 
• You stay up to date with the latest advancements in computer vision, deep learning, and distributed AI, and actively contribute to shaping the AI strategy of the organization. 
• You represent Sthenos in external conferences and meetups, sharing your team’s achievements and helping establish thought leadership in AI-driven defense systems. 

Your Skills  

• Undergraduate or graduate degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Electrical Engineering, or a related quantitative field 
• 3+ years of professional experience in computer vision, machine learning, or deep learning model development 
• Expertise in PyTorch, with a strong track record of training and deploying production-grade vision models 
• Hands-on experience with modern object detection and segmentation frameworks (e.g. YOLO, Faster R-CNN, DETR) 
• Solid understanding of reinforcement learning principles and experience applying them to vision or autonomous systems is a strong plus 
• Experience with distributed training and large-scale compute frameworks, preferably Ray, is a plus 
• First experience with the methods of explainability and synthetic data generation for the sake of improving the performance of vision models. 
• Proficiency in Python and its data and ML ecosystem (NumPy, Pandas, OpenCV, etc.) 
• Demonstrated experience with AI productization — from experimental prototyping to operational deployment and performance optimization 
• Ability to independently identify opportunities for innovation and translate them into actionable projects 
• Proven track record of cross-functional collaboration and technical leadership within agile teams
