The R&D department of the company sets as a strategic goal to increase know-how of the company in data platforms federation, data governance and analytics through its participation in relevant R&D projects. In this context, the company is looking for a senior researcher/scientific project manager with expertise in areas related (but not limited) to trustworthy data management, semantic technologies, explainable AI, geospatial analytics to join its growing R&D team. The selected candidate will act as principal investigator/scientific coordinator in European funded R&D ICT projects in application domains related to energy efficient buildings, sustainable cities and smart farming.

The main responsibilities include:

• Actively contribute to technical activities across the projects lifecycle, including requirements analysis, technical specifications, architecture design               and technical evaluatio
• Monitor closely the technical implementation tasks and provide feedback and guidance to the development team
• Coordinate multi-disciplinary teams to achieve projects technical milestones
• Write technical documentation and contribute to project scientific deliverables and research publications
• Perform comprehensive analysis of state-of-the-art technologies to justify technical decisions
• Provide hands on support and mentoring to junior researchers or interns
• Participate and represent the company in project meetings and relevant events
• Work independently in an ambiguous research environment

Required skills:

• Msc in Computer science, Engineering or related field
• 3+ years of experience in research (as researcher or technical manager, or equivalent position)
• Solid understanding of software architectures and familiarity with at least one programming language, Python, C/C++ or Java
• Excellent communication and organizational skills

Nice-to-have skills:

• PhD degree and/or publication record in a relevant research area
• Prior experience in Internet-of-Things (IoT) and big data applications development using open-source frameworks  
• Working experience in technical management of R&D projects
