SCYTALYS is currently looking for a skilled Air Defense Expert, passionate about their field of work.

 

Job Summary:

Air Defense Expert with deep expertise in C4I systems, command and control architectures, and defense systems evaluation. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in drafting operational and technical requirements, system acceptance, and lifecycle support of air defense systems. Familiarity with European Defence Fund (EDF) mechanisms and collaborative EU/NATO projects is a strong asset.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development, integration, and operational evaluation of Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence (C4I) systems specific to air defense environments.

  • Draft and validate operational and technical requirements for air defense platforms, sensors, weapons systems, and supporting C4I infrastructure.

  • Conduct technical evaluations, acceptance testing, and performance analysis of radars, launchers, effectors, tracking systems, and command & control interfaces.

  • Provide subject matter expertise on air defense sensor fusionweapons control, and fire control loop architecture.

  • Participate in system reviews, capability assessments, and integration workshops with multinational stakeholders.

  • Advise on interoperability standards (e.g., Link 16, STANAGs) and alignment with NATO and EU defense doctrines.

  • Engage in EDF-funded projects, contributing to proposal development, consortium coordination, and technical reporting.

  • Contribute to system-of-systems architecture development and mission-level simulations.

  • Support training and knowledge transfer for military personnel and technical staff.

 

Qualifications:

  • Prior service in the Hellenic Air Force (HAF) with extensive operational experience in air defense and command & control.

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering or related technical field will be an asset.

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in air defense operations and systems, with focus on C4I and command & control environments.

  • Proven track record in drafting and managing requirements documentation, technical specs, and acceptance criteria.

  • In-depth knowledge of modern air and missile defense systems (e.g., GBAD, SHORAD, SAM, BMD platforms).

  • Experience working with trackers, data fusion engines, and weapons control systems.

  • Solid understanding of European Defence Fund (EDF) processes and EU capability development projects.

  • Familiarity with NATO defense standards, joint operations, and multinational system integration.

  • Excellent analytical, writing, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Eligible for national or NATO/EU security clearance. 

 

Desirable Skills:

  • Fluency in English is required; knowledge of additional European languages is a plus.

  • Willingness to travel within the EU and to international partner sites.
