SCYTALYS is currently for a Software Engineering Manager responsible for leading the design, development, and delivery of software components for Scytalys’ core products in alignment with product roadmaps and engineering standards. This role ensures technical excellence, adherence to quality and security requirements, and fosters a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the software teams.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and empower software engineers across multiple squads to deliver high-quality, maintainable solutions aligned with product objectives and timelines.
- Drive engineering excellence by promoting best practices in software architecture, coding standards, secure development, and continuous improvement.
- Partner with the Product Engineering Manager to optimize resource allocation, build team capabilities, and support ongoing skill development.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performing culture that encourages innovation, accountability, and professional growth.
Technical Strategy & Delivery
- Translate product requirements into scalable technical designs, implementation plans, and actionable development goals.
- Oversee the development of maintainable, high-performance software solutions, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
- Ensure seamless integration with hardware and system-level components through close collaboration with Systems Engineering.
- Define and communicate technical strategy that aligns with product objectives, engineering goals, and organizational priorities.
Process & Quality
- Work closely with the QA Engineering Manager to embed automated testing and CI/CD practices.
- Ensure compliance with defense industry standards (e.g., MIL-STD, AQAP, ISO 9001, AS9100).
- Monitor and improve software development KPIs (velocity, defect density, code coverage).
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner with Product Line Engineers, Tech Leads, and Project Managers to ensure timely and quality delivery.
- Support bid activities and technical proposals by providing accurate software effort estimates and risk assessments.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
- 8+ years in software development, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Proven experience in managing teams delivering complex, mission-critical systems.
- Strong background in C++, Java, and Python.
- Familiar with ADA would be considered a plus.
- Familiarity with real-time systems, distributed architectures, and secure coding practices.
- Experience with Agile and DevOps methodologies.
- Ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced, multi-project environment.
- Strong leadership, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
Organizational Placement
- Reports to Products Engineering Manager for alignment with product strategy.
- Works closely with QA Engineering Manager, Projects Engineering Manager, and Tech Leads to ensure integrated delivery.
