Role Description 
 

SPRINGFIELD SHIPPING COMPANY PANAMA S.A. the Tanker Management arm of the Onassis Shipping Group seeks to employ an HSQE Superintendent who will assist in the demanding HSQE management by overseeing and monitoring the implementation of the SMS & the Company Policies and principles by all managed vessels and reporting to the HSQE Manager. 

 

Main responsibilities include:
•    Cultivating and promoting safety culture on board and ashore 
•    Assisting in handling of necessary actions, and participating in a range of HSQE related matters, including but not limited to SMS improvements, Management Review Meetings, Incident Investigations, Risk Assessments, Promotion programs, Campaigns, etc.
•    Monitoring the internal auditing process both in the office and in the managed vessels and compiling associated reports, as well as in external audits and flag inspections
•    In co-operation with HSQE Manager, conducting sailing audits and issuing attendance reports
•    Monitors closely vessel’s itinerary and provide fleet with relevant PSC preparation guidance. Follows up any PSC findings. 
•    Ensuring that all HSQE related reports are submitted on time and with accurate insights
•    Following-up the Company’s TMSA status and monitoring KPIs assigned to HSQE 
•    Briefing Master, Chief Engineer and Senior Officers prior joining
•    Participating in Emergency Response Team 

 

Requirements

 

Eligible candidates should meet the following requirements:
•    Graduate of Merchant Marine Academy, or University degree in Marine/Marine Engineering or Shipping 
•    At least 5 years of professional experience in HSQE role in Tanker operations
•    Experienced in managing compliance with national and international HSQE regulations (e.g., ISM, ISPS, ISO standards, MLC, SIRE 2.0)
•    Excellent knowledge in English language and report writing skills
•    Excellent command of MS Office Applications 
•    Ability to travel board ships
•    Knowledge of Danaos ERP system will be considered as an advantage
