Role Description
As a Database Administrator, you will be a key member of our Technical Support Division, ensuring the high availability, security, and performance of our critical database systems. You will support and optimize MS SQL Server and Oracle databases, used by real-time payment services and financial infrastructure with nationwide impact. This role requires deep technical expertise, analytical thinking, and a commitment to operational excellence, within a high-performance and regulated environment.
Responsibilities
- Database Administration: Ensure the reliable and efficient operation of mission-critical MS SQL Server and Oracle databases across production and non-production environments, supporting high-volume financial transactions with strict availability requirements.
- Performance Optimization: Proactively analyze and fine-tune SQL queries, indexes, and overall database configurations, aiming for continuous performance enhancement and optimal resource utilization.
- Automation & Monitoring: Design, implement, and maintain automated workflows, scheduled jobs, and real-time monitoring tools that safeguard database health and contribute to operational resilience.
- Backup & Recovery: Develop and oversee robust backup, restore, high availability and disaster recovery processes to guarantee data integrity and business continuity, aligned with regulatory and internal RTO/RPO objectives.
- Security & Compliance: Apply security best practices, manage roles and access controls, and ensure all database environments meet compliance standards such as ISO 27001, GDPR, and CIS benchmarks.
- Real-Time Troubleshooting: Rapidly identify, diagnose, and resolve performance issues or disruptions, ensuring real-time availability and reliability of critical services and payment infrastructures.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- Minimum 4 years of professional experience as a Database Administrator (DBA) working with MS SQL & Oracle
- Strong experience in query optimization, indexing, and database performance tuning
- Hands-on experience with backup mechanisms, high availability, and disaster recovery strategies using MS SQL FCI and SQL Always ON
- Solid understanding of database security best practices, global security standards and access control (ISO 27001, CIS, etc)
- Experience in monitoring, alerting, and automation of database operations
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and modern deployment models
- Excellent command of the English language, both written and oral
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills
- Attention to detail and a mindset for high-quality, secure operations
- Effective communication of technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in cross-functional teams
- Familiarity with agile environments and continuous delivery pipelines is a plus
Will be considered a plus
- Operating Systems: Hands-on experience with Windows Server operating systems, particularly in database hosting and administration environments
- Other Databases: Working knowledge of PostgreSQL or similar relational database systems, demonstrating flexibility in managing diverse database technologies
- Cloud Technologies: Familiarity with cloud-based database services (e.g. AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud SQL), including migration, deployment, and monitoring of cloud-native or hybrid architectures
- Data Warehouse: Experience in designing and maintaining data warehouse structures and processes to support historical data retention and business intelligence reporting
- Real-Time Analytics: Ability to work with tools and platforms supporting real-time analytics, streaming data processing, or time-sensitive reporting use cases
