🎯 The Mission

We are not just moving boxes; we are building the smartest marketplace in Greece. 

We are looking for a Machine Learning Engineer to join our engineering team and help build scalable, production-grade AI systems for search, discovery, and marketplace intelligence. 

This is a hands-on role focused on semantic search, embeddings, vector retrieval, ranking, and production MLOps. You will work on systems that improve how users find, compare, and interact with products across our marketplace.

This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys taking AI systems from experimentation to production and improving real-world search, discovery, and marketplace experiences. 

🧩 What You Will Do

• Build and improve semantic search, dense retrieval, hybrid search, and vector search systems.
• Design embedding pipelines for products, images, text, categories, and user behavior.
• Improve ranking, relevance, retrieval evaluation, and search quality metrics.
• Deploy and monitor ML services, retrieval APIs, and ranking systems in production.
• Optimize latency, scalability, reliability, and cost of ML-powered search systems.
• Support LLM-powered search, query understanding, and conversational discovery experiences.
• Build asynchronous and event-driven pipelines for search and ML workloads.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and business teams to turn AI ideas into production features. 

✅ What We Are Looking For

• Strong Python and software engineering fundamentals.
• Experience with search, recommendation, ranking, retrieval, or matching systems.
• Practical understanding of embeddings, vector search, similarity search, and relevance optimization.
• Experience deploying and operating ML systems, APIs, and data pipelines in production.
• Solid knowledge of SQL and working with structured and unstructured data.
• Interest in e-commerce, marketplaces, search, discovery, and user experience.
• Strong ownership, problem-solving ability, and pragmatic engineering mindset. 

As well as, experience in some or most of the following areas is valuable: 

• Search & Retrieval: semantic search, dense retrieval, hybrid search, query understanding, ranking, re-ranking, learning-to-rank, and relevance evaluation.
• Embeddings & Vector Databases: embedding pipelines, ANN search, similarity matching, embedding versioning, and tools such as Pinecone, Milvus, Qdrant, Weaviate, FAISS, Elasticsearch, or OpenSearch.
• MLOps: production ML APIs, monitoring, observability, model versioning, CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS or GCP.
• ML & NLP: transformer models, Hugging Face, fine-tuning, model evaluation, RAG, and LLM-powered search or conversational interfaces.
• Data Engineering: SQL, batch or streaming pipelines, distributed task queues, RabbitMQ, Kafka, Celery, or similar systems.
• Nice to Have: marketplace or e-commerce search experience, image embeddings, visual similarity, product matching, recommendations, personalization, and A/B testing.
