About the role

Duties & Responsibilities:

Support of enterprise telecom / network environments and systems for large organizations and corporate customers, with emphasis on Security, IP Telephony and Data Center solutions. Job duties include network upgrades and reconfigurations, implementation of change requests and troubleshooting of technical problems in large corporate customer production networks and critical infrastructures, cooperation and coordination with customer / field teams / vendors / subcontractors, incident management and case handling via relevant systems and tools, spare part and inventory management.

 

Required skills:

•      Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in the fields of Telecommunications Engineering or Information Technology

•       Proven working experience in similar positions with similar responsibilities

•       Good working knowledge of TCP/IP concepts (IPv4 / IPv6, DNS, DHCP, QOS etc.), switching principles (VLANs, VPC, LACP, STP etc.), L2 / L3 network technologies (e.g. MPLS, VoIP, STP, VPC etc.). routing, signaling and management protocols (OSPF, BGP, SIP, SNMP etc.)

•       Expertise in at least one of the following areas (a second area will be considered a plus): Routing / Switching, Data Center, Security, VoIP / Collaboration, as well as hands-on experience and familiarity with relevant Cisco products and solutions.

•       Experience in handling complex technical problems on production environments

•       Excellent command and use of the English language (oral and written)

•       Excellent knowledge of MS Office applications

•       Ability to work in shifts and / or as on-call engineer

 

Preferred hard skills:

•       Active CCNA / CCNP level certification (Cisco Certified Network Associate / Professional) and / or active equivalent certification of any other major telecom equipment vendor

•       Familiarity with enterprise-level products and solutions of other major telecom equipment vendors apart from Cisco (e.g. Huawei, Checkpoint, Fortinet, etc.)

•       Security concepts and technologies and related products and solutions (especially Cisco). Expertise in Firewalling (Cisco FTD / FMC) and VPN (Site to Site / Remote Access), UTM / NextGen firewalls, IDS & IPS / Web Security (Cisco WSA) / Email Security (Cisco ESA) / Identity Services (Cisco ISE) products and solutions and PKI / Certificates, will be considered a plus

•       Data Center Network Architecture concepts and related products and solutions (especially Cisco Data Center Nexus Family & Cisco NX-OS Software, e.g. Unified Fabric, UCSM Fabric Interconnects etc.). Expertise in High Availability Architecture & Programmability (with focus on Cisco products and solutions, e.g. chassis-blades, UCS Servers, CIMC, Hyper Flex Clusters etc.) and Data Center Storage solutions (DAS / SAN / NAS), with focus on IBM & Cisco products, will be considered a plus

•       Virtualization Architecture Concepts with emphasis on Hypervisors (VMware, Vcenter HA, Virtual Switching etc.)

•       Programming / scripting skills (e.g. Python, Perl, Yang, VB, PHP, SQL etc.) and background in development and support of automation solutions / processes

•       Linux OS (with focus on Ubuntu and Red Hat)

 

Preferred soft skills:

•       Addressing challenging technical problems in complex production customer networks

•       Working under pressure and prioritizing tasks

•       Working well with large teams and adapting easily to changing environments

•       Taking initiatives, sharing knowledge and guiding colleagues

•       Quality customer service orientation and good communication skills

•       Strong interest in following new technology trends and willingness to learn and work with new technologies
