About the role

As a member of IT Infrastructure & Cloud Services Team, the candidate will be responsible for daily operational support and administration of Linux physical and virtual/cloud environments, the lifecycle management of Linux systems, performing relevant installations, patches and upgrades.  

Duties & responsibilities

• Server Configuration and Deployment: Configure and deploy Linux servers based on organizational requirements. Implement and maintain server virtualization technologies
• Linux System Management: Administer and maintain Linux-based servers, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. Perform routine system tasks, including software updates, patches, and system backups
• Cloud Engineering: Deploy, test, and operate cloud computing services. Identify, analyze, and resolve infrastructure vulnerabilities and application deployment issues
• Scripting and Automation: Develop and maintain scripts to automate tasks and processes. Proficiency in Ansible, shell scripting or similar languages is essential. Utilize Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools to automate deployment and configuration processes
• Server Technologies: Manage and configure Apache Application servers, Nginx, and HAProxy. Experience with these technologies is crucial
• Troubleshooting and Support: Provide technical support for Linux systems. Troubleshoot issues related to network, hardware, and software. Interact with customers, provide cloud support, and make recommendations based on their needs
• Documentation: Create and maintain documentation for cloud infrastructure and Linux systems’ configurations, procedures, and best practices. Ensure documentation is up-to-date and accessible to the IT team
• Collaboration and Project Participation: Participate in complex IT projects, providing and implementing technical solutions for highly available infrastructure. Collaborate with other IT team members to address cross-functional issues

Required Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
• At least 3 years proven experience as a System Administrator or Cloud Operations Specialist with a strong focus on Azure
• Strong proficiency with various Linux distributions  (RHEL, SLES, Ubuntu, OEL) and High Availability mechanisms (linux pacemaker/hpe serviceguard/veritas vcs)
• Strong understanding of cloud technologies with strong focus on Microsoft Azure or GCP
• Knowledge of server virtualization technologies (e.g. VMware)
• Scripting skills using Bash, Python, or similar languages
• Strong skills in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (Terraform, Ansible)
• Familiarity with security best practices for Linux systems
• Good Knowledge of any of the following concepts: Network, SAN, Storage, DR, Backup/Restore procedures
• Knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes is a plus
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
• Very good knowledge of the English language. (Β2 Lower level)

• Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or equivalent
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
• VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or similar virtualization certifications
