The mission of the Onassis Foundation, founded by Aristotle Onassis in 1975, will always be human-centric: to shape and shake society through new ideas, bold discussions, and unexpected connections in arts, healthcare, and education.
Since the late 1970s, the Onassis Foundation has supported education, with over 1,800 educational programs, nearly 8,000 scholarships for young people worldwide, and since January 2025, the Onassis Public Schools – a new network of model public schools with a strong social focus.
The Onassis Hospital, which over the past 33 years has offered cutting edge innovation and contribution to Greece's public health system, is establishing the most democratic and modern conditions for providing health care to all through the completion of the Onassis National Transplant Center and the autonomous unit for pediatric cardiology.
With the Onassis Stegi, an emblematic venue in Athens, the Onassis Foundation fosters the talent and energy of local and international artists to thrive and initiates conversations that aim to shake and shape society. Since 2010, the Onassis Stegi has showcased over 15,000 performances in theater, dance, music, and art. In 2025, the Onassis Foundation introduced a new venue to the Athenian art scene: Onassis Ready.
Promoting the visibility of Greek artists, the Touring program of Onassis Culture has presented more than 100 productions and co-productions in 72 countries worldwide.
Additionally, Onassis Foundation empowers artists producing genre-defying works through Onassis ONX, its global platform for digital cultures, and supports artistic research and practice through Onassis AiR, fostering global artistic partnerships.
