Role Overview

Ethniki Asfalistiki is looking for an ESG/ Sustainability Professional to support Corporate Sustainability Compliance within the Compliance & Corporate Governance Division, ensuring full alignment with EU and national regulatory framework on sustainability, including National Climate Law, EU Taxonomy, SFDR, and CSRD/ESRS requirements, while closely collaborating with the Group to ensure consistency with the broader ESG framework and reporting alignment. The role is responsible for driving the Company’s ESG strategy and governance framework, monitoring sustainability reporting and disclosures, and enabling informed decision-making at the highest level through robust sustainability metrics, risk assessments, and effective stakeholder and Group -level engagement.

 

Main Responsibilities

  • Support Company’s sustainability compliance ensuring alignment with applicable and upcoming frameworks (e.g. National Climate Law, EU Taxonomy, SFDR, CSRD/ESRS, CSDDD).
  • Coordinate the GHG emission validation (ISO 14064-1) under National Climate Law and the requirements set out under the Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR).
  • Manage the collection, coordinate and monitor GHG emissions, including among others, Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 - including financed and insured emissions- S1, S4, G1 sustainability data through daily communication and close collaboration with internal divisions, ESG Ambassadors and Group ESG team ensuring data quality, consistency, and timely reporting & submission.
  • Coordinate the preparation and timely delivery of sustainability reporting, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and alignment with Group requirements and report the progress to the ESG Senior Expert and Head of Compliance & Corporate Governance Division.
  • Drive the development and continuous enhancement of the ESG / Sustainable Governance Framework in line with regulatory expectations and Group standards, including drafting and updating relevant policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and coordinate the implementation of the Company’s ESG strategy, KPIs, and risk assessments, and prepare regular reports for Management and the Group.
  • Contribute to key reports and disclosures (e.g., ORSA and sustainability-related reporting), support ESG rating assessments (e.g., EcoVadis, CDP, SBTi), and present findings to internal stakeholders.
  • Promote ESG awareness across business units through training and engagement initiatives, while monitoring evolving sustainability regulations (e.g., CSDDD) to ensure ongoing compliance and timely reporting to relevant stakeholders.

 

Candidate Job Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Engineering, Finance, Business Administration, Law, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree in ESG, Sustainability, or Business Administration will be considered an asset.
  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience in ESG, Sustainability, Risk, Compliance, or related roles, preferably within financial services, insurance, or advisory services.
  • Strong knowledge of ESG regulatory frameworks and standards (e.g., CSRD/ESRS, EU Taxonomy, SFDR, National Climate Law), with hands-on experience in sustainability reporting, ESG data management, KPI monitoring, and familiarity with GHG Protocol (Scopes 1, 2, and 3).
  • Experience in ESG ratings and disclosures (e.g., GRI, EcoVadis, CDP, SBTi), with a solid understanding of investor and regulatory expectations.
  • Proven ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and engage effectively with internal stakeholders and Group functions.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver under tight deadlines, complemented by excellent communication and presentation skills for Management-level audiences.
  • Fluency in Greek and English (written and spoken).
  • Professional certifications (e.g., GRI, ESG / Sustainability-related certifications) will be considered an asset.
  • No pending military obligations (for Greek male citizens).
