Role Overview

Ethniki Asfalistiki is seeking a Data and AI Architect who will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable and secure data and AI architecture to support the organization’s data strategy, analytics capabilities, and artificial intelligence initiatives. The role ensures that enterprise data platforms, AI environments, and integration frameworks align with business requirements, technical standards, and governance policies. Working closely with data engineers, AI engineers, governance teams, business stakeholders, and cloud platform teams, the Data and AI Architect defines conceptual, business, and technical data models and ensures their consistent implementation across enterprise data platforms. The role guides the design and evolution of the organization’s cloud data and AI foundation, including data lake environments, AI platforms, and machine learning operational frameworks.

Main Responsibilities

• Design and maintain scalable enterprise data and AI architectures aligned with business and data strategy, including conceptual, business, and technical data models.
• Ensure consistent application of architectural standards across data lake, lakehouse, and analytical platforms.
• Guide the evolution of cloud data and AI platforms, ensuring alignment with Azure (e.g., Azure Databricks, Fabric, Azure AI Foundry) and supporting secure, scalable environments.
• Define architecture patterns for data lake/lakehouse and apply Data Fabric principles to enable seamless data integration, access, and orchestration across systems.
• Ensure platforms support structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data for analytics and AI workloads.
• Oversee enterprise data integration, defining standards for ingestion, ETL/ELT, APIs, and streaming, ensuring reliable data flows across systems and environments.
• Enable AI and MLOps lifecycle by aligning architecture with model development, deployment, monitoring, leveraging Azure ML and AI capabilities.
• Maintain data architecture documentation, metadata, data dictionaries, and support data lineage tracking across systems.
• Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and privacy policies, embedding access controls and enabling responsible AI and data usage.
• Drive continuous improvement of data and AI architecture, enhancing performance, scalability, resilience, cost efficiency, and supporting cloud modernization strategy.

Candidate Job Profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years experience in data architecture, cloud data platforms, or enterprise data engineering environments.
• Strong expertise in data modeling, database design, and enterprise data architecture principles.
• Experience designing and implementing Data Lake and Lakehouse architectures.
• Proficiency in data integration using ETL/ELT pipelines, APIs, and distributed data processing frameworks.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, Azure Data Factory, Synapse or Fabric, and Azure Databricks.
• Familiarity with Azure AI Foundry, Azure Machine Learning, MLOps practices, and Data Fabric architecture patterns.
• Strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to guide architectural decisions and explain complex concepts to diverse stakeholders.
• Excellent command of Greek and English (written and spoken).
• No pending military obligations (for Greek male citizens).
