We are looking for a Platform Engineer to take ownership of the environments that power its cyber exercise platform. The role focuses on provisioning, networking, access management, automation, and operational reliability across virtualized lab environments, ensuring that cyber exercises can be deployed securely, repeatedly, and at scale while supporting the continuous evolution and resilience of the platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain the infrastructure foundations of the platform, including virtual environments, networking, and secure access
- Support provisioning, configuration, scaling, and teardown of lab environments used for cyber exercises
- Design and manage networking components such as segmentation, routing, NAT, VPN access, and access controls
- Improve automation for infrastructure deployment, environment setup, and platform operations
- Help manage VM templates, images, and reusable environment configurations
- Contribute to platform reliability, monitoring, incident response, and operational security
- Work closely with backend engineers to connect infrastructure capabilities with platform workflows
- Document infrastructure architecture, deployment patterns, and operational procedures
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Professional experience in infrastructure, platform engineering, cloud engineering, or DevOps and SRE roles
- Experience with virtualization, private cloud, or infrastructure automation environments
- Good understanding of networking fundamentals, including VLANs, routing, firewalling, NAT, and secure remote access
- Experience with Linux systems administration and infrastructure troubleshooting
- Familiarity with infrastructure as code and automation tooling
- Ability to work independently and make practical technical decisions in evolving environments
Nice to have
- Experience with OpenStack or similar platforms, infrastructure automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, Packer), and secure remote access technologies (WireGuard, IPsec, OpenVPN)
- Exposure to Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, or broader platform operations
- Experience in cybersecurity labs, cyber ranges, or controlled training and simulation environments
- Strong ownership mindset, proactive problem solving, and good documentation and operational discipline
- Eligibility for security clearance, if required
