attica department stores is currently in search of an experienced and skilled Assistant Technical Services Director to join our Technical Services Department at our central offices in Athens.

Role Purpose:

The Assistant Technical Services Director will act as the second-in-command within the Technical Services function, reporting directly to the Technical Services Director. The role is responsible for supporting and supervising the teams managing store maintenance, facility operations, procurement of technical equipment, and architectural projects. The position ensures operational excellence across the company’s retail network, warehouses, and corporate offices, while contributing to the optimization of processes, cost efficiency, and continuous improvement in line with the company’s growth strategy.

Key accountabilities:

  • Support the Technical Services Director in executing the company’s technical services strategy.
  • Supervise day-to-day operations across the architectural team, store technicians (electricians, maintenance, POS/equipment support), and procurement function.
  • Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance programs for all stores, warehouses, and corporate facilities.
  • Oversee technical procurement processes for retail stores, ensuring cost efficiency, quality standards, and vendor compliance.
  • Monitor and support architectural projects ensuring alignment with corporate design guidelines and timelines.
  • Ensure adherence to health, safety, and compliance regulations across all technical operations.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, IT, Customer Service, and Finance to ensure smooth technical support for retail activities.
  • Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and SLAs with external service providers.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a diverse team of architects, technicians, and procurement professionals.
  • Track departmental KPIs, budgets, and project progress, providing reports and recommendations to senior management.
  • Drive innovation in technical services and implement best practices to improve efficiency and customer experience within the retail environment.

Skills/Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or related field); Master’s degree will be considered an asset
  • 7+ years of relevant professional experience in technical services, facilities management, or engineering, with at least 3 years in a managerial/supervisory position.
  • Proven experience in retail, FMCG, or large-scale facilities management environment.
  • Strong knowledge of building systems, maintenance processes, procurement practices, and health & safety regulations.
  • Experience in managing architectural/design projects, technical installations, and vendor negotiations.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and ERP systems (experience with SAP or similar systems is an advantage).
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Strong project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with proven cross-department collaboration experience.
